Coaching vs. therapy

Dec 23, 2019

Coaching and therapy can be two important tools for anyone, especially a widow. It’s important to understand their unique offerings.

Coaching means that a coach and client are partners in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize their potential. Coaching focuses on the present and moving toward the client’s ideal future.

Coaching in the group format also provides a community of people in similar situations, all moving forward and learning together.

With therapy, a client works with a healthcare professional who diagnoses and treats acute mental disorders and diseases.

An analogy is working with a physical therapist to heal an injury and get back to baseline, versus working with an athletic trainer to become stronger overall.

Both therapy and coaching can occur in person, by phone, or online.

Therapy and coaching can both be extremely beneficial and can happen simultaneously, or sequentially.
