A simple step to live more intentionally

Sep 30, 2022

Most people are familiar with the concept of the bucket list, made famous by the 2007 movie by the same name. It’s a list of things you want to do in your lifetime. The items on a bucket list are unique to the individual, the person genuinely wants to do these things, and has not done them already.

The same concept can be applied to thoughts. There are the thoughts we used to think, and the ones we think now. But what about the thoughts that you want to think in the future?

Thoughts have incredible power because they generate feelings, and feelings drive actions.

So, if you are not currently taking the actions you would like to be taking, that’s because you’re not feeling like doing so. And that’s because of the thought you’re thinking.

A simple solution is to create a bucket list for your thoughts. What thoughts do you want to think? Some examples might be:

I am finding my new identity.

I am navigating this life after loss in the right way for me.

I refuse to judge my journey.

His loss is exactly this hard.

I am creating a life that I truly want to live.

I am living a life that honors him and me.

I’m going to find a way to help others.

Thoughts that you think on purpose must ring true for you. Think these intentional thoughts often. Pause after each and feel the feeling it creates in your body.

Thinking intentional thoughts is an exercise in directing your brain, creating feelings and therefore actions on purpose.

Thinking intentional thoughts can recharge your batteries and shine a light on your path.

What is on your thought bucket list?
